Bobcats Shoots the Lights Out of Livingstone
61-51
Shari Hill, SID Intern
Salisbury, NC-
Livingstone traveled less than three minutes from their campus
to play in the Salisbury Roundball Classic hosted by Catawba
College. In hopes of their first win of the season, the results
of the match up versus Georgia College & State University (1-0
overall) was not what the Blue Bears expected for its second
game of the season. Livingstone (0-2 overall) could not
overcome an early deficit to fall short 51-61. The Bobcats took
an early 14-0 lead in the first half and held a 25-13 halftime
advantage. Junior Michael Duncan (Cleveland, OH) of Livingstone
led the game with 23 points.
In the beginning of the game, Georgia C&SU had a
14-2 run over the Blue Bears, by shooting three back-to-back
three-pointers. The Blue Bears ended the first half with a field
goal percentage of 16.7% (5 of 30) to Georgia C&SU’s 32% (8 of
25) is what kept them behind. Livingstone’s poor attempt to
shoot the long ball (0 of 8) assisted the Bobcat run. The
Bobcats made 5 of 9 (55.6%) field goals behind the arc.
Duncan emerged from his four points in the first
half to become the leading scorer. He made 8 of 15 from the
field and 7 of 9 from the charity stripe. Junior Christopher
Worley (Bennettsville, SC) also finished in double figures with
10 points. Senior Marcus Lewis (Birmingham, AL) recorded 11
rebounds. Livingstone shot 31.7% from the floor and 5.9% in
three-pointers (1 of 17).
Georgia C&S was led by Aaron Gibbs with 15
points, while Aaron Clark chipped in 12. The Bobcats made 22 of
54 field goals (40.7%), and shot 63.4% (9 of 14) from the arc.
The Blue Bears will take on Allen University
tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 pm in game three of the classic.
Bobcats will play host Catawba at 6:00 pm.
