Blue Bears Win their First Home Game against Morris College 62-54

(Salisbury, NC) Livingstone (2-5, 0-2 CIAA) outpaced Morris College (3-6) 62-54 for its first home victory.  Livingstone led at halftime 34-32.  Senior Brent Cowles (Charlotte, NC) led the game with 14 points, while sophomore Landon Bussie (Baltimore, MD) contributed 12 rebounds. Joseph Hayward led the Hornets with 13 points.

 

The Blue Bears went in to intermission with the score 34-32.  The Blue Bears shot 41.4% (12 of 29) compared to the Hornets 38.5 % (10 of 26).  From the charity stripe LC shot for 72% (8 of 11) over Morris’ 47.4% (9 of 19).

 

For the game, the Blue Bears shot 35.8% (19 of 53), while Morris improved to 40.9% (18 of 44).  LC controlled the lead by shooting behind the three-point arc making 20 of 33 (60.6%), while the Hornets shot 53.6% (15 of 28).  The Blue Bears had 21 points off of 23 Morris College turnovers.

 

The Blue Bears will travel to Virginia Union on Saturday December 9th for final game of the 2006 year. The CIAA game will be a double-header with the Lady Blue Bears playing at 5:30 and the men following at 7:30 p.m.
