Michael Duncan Lifts Livingstone over Bowie State 72-69 in Overtime

 

Salisbury, NC – Livingstone College (5-1 overall, 1-0 CIAA) defeated Bowie State University 72-69 in overtime during its conference opener. Michael Duncan (Cleveland, OH) led the game, for the Blue Bears, with 17 points and scored the final field goal of the game with 1:14 remaining in the extra period. Duncan also hit a three-pointer with three seconds remaining in regulation to tie the score 62-62. Durrell Baker scored a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Mario Satterthwaite netted 12 points while point guard Tayloe Taylor chipped in ten points and seven assists. Falling behind in the first quarter by as much as ten points, Livingstone closed the gap for a 29-30 halftime deficit.

 

Bowie State (3-1 overall, 0-1 CIAA) had three players to score in double figures. Christian Jackson and Jason Ingram both scored 15 points while Curtis Massey tossed in ten points.

 

Livingstone shot 43.3% (26 of 60) from the floor compared to BSU’s 30.3% (20 of 66). Bowie State out-rebounded the Blue Bears 50 to 44 and had more players from the bench score.

 

Livingstone will travel to Elizabeth City State to take on the Vikings on Thursday, November 29th at 7:30 pm
