Tuesday, December 4, 2007 Blue Bears Dominate Shaw Bears in William Trent Gym 83-70
Salisbury, NC – In its final home game in the year 2007, Livingstone (7-2, 2-1 CIAA) excited its students and home fans with an 83-70 win over the Shaw Bears (2-3, 0-1 CIAA). Michael Duncan rang out 23 points and six assists that set the pace for the Blue Bears. Travis Young recorded his second double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds while Tayloe Taylor also scored 12 points with seven assists. Big men Durrell Baker and Mario Satterthwaite netted 11 and 10 respectfully. The Blue Bears led by five (45-40) at the half.
Shaw jumped out to an early seven point lead (11-4/15:09) in the first five minutes. The Blue Bears responded to the deficit with a 19-2 run that spanned for 3:25 and put LC ahead by ten (23-13). The Shaw Bears created their own 12-2 run and re-tie the game at 25-25 with 7:37 remaining in the half. Livingstone regained control of the game and increased the lead to nine with 1:43 on the clock before the half. Duncan scored 14 of his 23 to lead the game while John Kornegay helped Shaw with 12 of his own points.
Livingstone dominated the second half although Shaw came within one point (63-64) with 6:31 left in the game. Travis Young scored six quick points to spark a LC 11-3 run that eventually continued to create the Blue Bears biggest lead of the game of 13 points.
