Lawrenceville, VA – Tristan Rankin's 23 points garners a Saint Paul’s College victory over Livingstone College 99-90. The senior, proved to be a handful for the Blue Bears. Rankin scored 10 of his game-high 23 points in the second half to compliment his 6 rebounds and perfect shooting from the charity stripe (9-9).
The Blue Bears took an early lead (20-9) with 13:56 in the first half. Afterwards, the Blue Bears proceeded to go on a severe scoring shortage as LC went without a basket for the final ten minutes of the first half. The Tigers cut the lead within two before the teams parted into the locker rooms.
Livingstone held a 43-30 rebounding margin and outscored the Tigers in the paint, 50-42. Chris Worley led the effort with 24 points while Michael Duncan contributed 20 and Brent Cowles 13. Calvin Gunning finished with a double-double 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Jack Brown
chipped in 17 points for the Tigers, shooting 8-for-9 from
the field. Bruce Royal had 17 points while Hassan Robin
followed with 15 and Antonio Hargrove 14 points. Livingstone will visit Johnson C. Smith for a rival game in Brayboy Gymnasium on Thursday, February 15. Game time will be at 7:30 pm.
December 2, 2006 Blue Bears Win their First Home Game against Morris College 62-54 Shari Hill, LC SID Intern
(Salisbury, NC) Livingstone (2-5, 0-2 CIAA) outpaced Morris College (3-6) 62-54 for its first home victory. Livingstone led at halftime 34-32. Senior Brent Cowles (Charlotte, NC) led the game with 14 points, while sophomore Landon Bussie (Baltimore, MD) contributed 12 rebounds. Joseph Hayward led the Hornets with 13 points. more | stats
November 30, 2006 Blue Bears Crash in 2nd Half 61- 73 to Elizabeth City State Shari Hill, LC SID Intern
(Salisbury, NC) Livingstone deflated the air out of William Trent Gym with a 61-73 loss to Elizabeth City State University (2-3, 2-0 CIAA). The Blue Bears (1-5, 0-2 CIAA) went into intermission with an awesome start and a 35-27 lead. The Vikings gained new life in the second half behind the play of sophomore Anthony Hilliard, who led the game with a double-double of 29 points and 21 rebounds. Livingstone Dominates 2nd Half for 80-66 Win Over Allen
Salisbury, NC – Livingstone (1-2 overall) recovered from a lackluster first half and outpaced the Yellow Jackets of Allen University 80-66. The Blue Bears settled into a style of play that helped them come from eight behind to down four at the half, 26-30. Michael Duncan, who averages 20.7 points per game in three games, led the way for Livingstone with 24. The spark of energy that fueled the Blue Bears came from Brent Cowles who finished with 22 points. more | stats
November 17, 2006 Bobcats Shoots the Lights Out of Livingstone 61-51 Shari Hill, SID Intern
Salisbury, NC- Livingstone traveled less than three minutes from their campus to play in the Salisbury Roundball Classic hosted by Catawba College. In hopes of their first win of the season, the results of the match up versus Georgia College & State University (1-0 overall) was not what the Blue Bears expected for its second game of the season. Livingstone (0-2 overall) could not overcome an early deficit to fall short 51-61. The Bobcats took an early 14-0 lead in the first half and held a 25-13 halftime advantage. Junior Michael Duncan (Cleveland, OH) of Livingstone led the game with 23 points. more | stats
November 15, 2006 Second Half Shooting Dismantles Blue Bears in 59-63 Loss to Benedict
Salisbury, NC - At Livingstone’s home opener against Benedict College in a packed gymnasium (1,009), the Blue Bears impressed its fans with a solid first half performance. Livingstone led by as many as 19 points and ended the half with a 29-19 lead. Unfortunately, the second half was full of disappointments as the Blue Bears surrendered its advantage and fell to the tigers of Benedict 63-59. more | stats
