Sunday, March 25, 2007 Livingstone sweeps Virginia Union off the mound 15-9 and 8-5 in Double Header
Salisbury, NC -The Lady Blue Bears (3-5 overall, 3-5 CIAA) defeated the Lady Panthers of Virginia Union (0-10, 0-10 CIAA) in a double header match-up of softball Sunday, March 25th a Kelsey Scott Park. Down midway through the first game, Livingstone rallied to a 15-9 victory. LC maintained advantage throughout the second game winning 8-5. Freshman Short-stop Asiah Brackett finished with three hits with eight at bats and was walked once. She also finished with four runs, two RBIs, four putouts, and six assists. Fellow Freshman Catcher Jonta' Moss accounted for five RBIs and two runs off of two hits with nine at bats.
Livingstone, down 9-5, sparked a rally in the bottom of the fourth inning scoring five runs off of three hits and one error to go ahead by one (10-9). In the fifth inning, the Lady Blue Bears secured the game with four runs off of two hits and two errors.
To begin the second game, Virginia Union scored two runs from two hits and one error. Later in the bottom of the fourth, Livingstone pounced on the Lady Panthers scoring four runs from two hits and three errors. The Lady Blue Bears continued in the fifth with two runs off of three hits.
Virginia Union attempted a comeback in the seventh with a rally of three runs from two hits and one error but center fielder Charian Jordan ended the game by catching back to back fly balls. Complete Box Scores >> Game 1 | Game 2
March 18, 2007 BSU Softball Takes Two at Livingstone
Salisbury, NC - The Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs softball team upped its season record to 4-0 after rocking the Livingstone College Lady Blue Bears 10-0 in game one and 18-1 in game two. Tricia Corbin paced the Lady Bulldogs in the first game with three hits, three RBI's and accounted for four runs, Corbin, a sophomore from Glen Burnie, MD (Old Mill H.S.) continued her hot hitting in game two, pounding out three more hits, scored four runs and pushed across seven RBI's. Junior pitcher/outfielder Jillian Willey (Millersville, MD / Old Mill H.S.) picked up her first official win of the season in game one, allowing just three hits and striking out 11. Sophomore Heather Enders recorded her second victory of the season in game two, striking out four and allowed only three hits. Complete Box Scores »» Game 1 Game 2
