Livingstone qualifies for CIAA Volleyball Tournament
Salisbury, NC – The Lady Blue Bears volleyball team has achieved a feat that has eluded Livingstone since 1997. The team has qualified for participation in the CIAA Volleyball Tournament. All of the Fall CIAA Championships, except cross country, will be hosted by Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC. The qualifiers will be split into two pools where one will play in Brayboy Gymnasium and the other at Grady Cole. The first of three rounds will begin on Thursday morning at 9:00 am.
With an overall record of 18-6 and a conference record of 8-5, Livingstone ranked third in the CIAA Western Division with a 5-3 record. Although tied with Shaw University in the division, the Bears won one more conference games than Livingstone.
The Lady Blue Bears will face Virginia State University at 9:00 am in Brayboy Gymnasium. During the CIAA Volleyball roundup, Livingstone defeated the Lady Trojans 3-1.
At 3:00 pm, Livingstone will relocate to the Grady Cole’s Center and face Western Division Champion Fayetteville State University. In previous meetings, the Lady Broncos won both games 3-0.
The Lady Blue Bears will play their final match of the day against St. Paul’s College. Livingstone won both meetings this season 3-1 and 3-2.
All CIAA Middle Hitter Davia Moss and All-CIAA Rookie Team member Lydia Blakey will lead the Lady Blue Bears in this record breaking season.
The Livingstone Women’s Bowling Team will begin championship play on Sunday, November 11 in Charlotte, NC.
